"There were whispers and I was afraid..." |
I've read so much about this issue prior to reading it myself. Rather than give a blow by blow account of the issue, which was solid in a filler sort of way, I'll cut right to chase. I heard the complaints of talking zombies. Immediately I thought of George Romero and how he ruined the zombie genre right after creating it. Yes. I hate George Romero's zombie movies. With the exception of Night of the Living Dead, they all suck. They're terrible and have no good qualities about them... but... people like them. I don't know either. Anyways...
Once I got to the part of the talking zombies I just kept on reading and finished the issue then went back and thought about it. Personally, I don't think Kirkman would do this, therefore I'll be one of the people that say; "there are humans walking among them, a la Rick and Glenn covering themselves with zombie guts etc.". Of course... even though I don't believe Kirkman would go the stupid route, I guess it wouldn't surprise me if he did Romero it up. If he does... I'd be very bitter about it. I think the idea of zombies that adapt and learn is fucking stupid and hasn't worked before nor will it ever. If they start to adapt and learn then that really doesn't make them zombies does it? They're rotting. How can you have something that evolves but is rotting? It doesn't make sense. So yeah. Kirkman/Aldard... I know you're not reading this but I'm pretending to be Professor X. Hear me now... don't do anything stupid... like Romero zombies. K? Thanks bye.
Overall it was a good issue. Solid. It may seem like filler but... I think it's just the usual Kirkman set-up issue to something much bigger. And damn if Negan isn't fucking awesome. Haha
