Measuring only 5 X 7, this acrylic portrait of General Patton is me trying to return to form. I haven't invested much time in painting since the late 90s. I've painted since then but haven't focused on it like I should have, focusing exclusively on pencils, pastels and ink, producing maybe three paintings since then. Instead of jumping in with extreme detail, something I do with pencil and ink, I knew I'd be rusty with a brush and decided midway through painting that I'd go full-on impressionism. Turned out pretty cool. I think anyway. Usually I'm my own worst critic and I don't have anything bad to say about it.
Immediately after painting this picture I watched Patton on Netflix. I've been wanting to watch it ever since I saw the episode about him on Brad Meltzer's Decoded, one of my favorite shows. Anyways... the movie was bad ass.
