The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Not really spoilerish)

Obviously, I was excited as hell for this movie because I loved the first one so much. Believe it or not, I like this franchise better than Raimi's so far. Not that Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies were bad (well the 3rd one was trash, and even thought it "wasn't Raimi's fault", I blame him for it anyway), I just enjoy this series more. Particularly Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Tobey McGuire was a good Peter Parker as was his Spider-Man but he just didn't capture the comic book version as well as Andrew Garfield does. Garfield is flat out awesome as both, to me there's simply no comparison.

I remember hearing about Jamie Foxx being cast as Electro and I was pretty excited for it. Foxx is a great actor and he's good in pretty much anything he does. Then of course the rumblings came of a second villain. Then a third and suddenly I stopped caring about the movie at all. I didn't want another Raimi-Man 3 which was an overloaded piece of shit. For starters we all knew Raimi wasn't a fan of Venom. So Sony decided to force him to put him in. Well... I get it that he was shoe-horned in but Raimi did such a poor job with the character (and casting) that it was a shame for us fans to suffer. Couple that with the fact that Raimi nearly ruined the character of Peter Parker with that emo nonsense... ugh. I get pissed off thinking about it. Anyways... I don't think any of us wanted another debacle like that.

What set me further away from following the production of this movie was the designs of Rhino and the Green Goblin. I don't really like the Transformer-Pretender looking mech-Rhino suit. After seeing it in action I'm more warm to the idea however. Then there's the Green Goblin. I fucking hated it when I first saw it. And now I just put up with it because I have to. Still highly dislike it. He reminds me too much like dude from Fright Night: (I almost got him confused with his Hoax character from 976-EVIL, Haha)

We'll meet again Spider-Man!!

This sucks because the Goblin is my favorite Spider-Man villain and Dane Dehaan is a really good actor. His Harry is light years beyond and better than James Franco's version. Dehaan doesn't look and sound stoned the whole time. He looks the part and doesn't sound like so much of a whiny pussy. I used to like James Franco. I don't know what happened. Anywho... Once Dehaan shows up for the one or two minutes we see of the Goblin, his acting sort of made me forget how stupid the Goblin design really is, which is a good thing. I really liked Dehaan in this. Then there's Paul Giamatti. He's awesome. From Pig Vomit to John Adams, he can be funny as hell to super serious without skipping a beat. Even though his role is really an extended cameo, I loved it. It was very comic book-ish and over the top. And that mech suit I dreaded wasn't bad at all. Maybe I should bitch and whine like a baby for every movie I anticipate to set my expectations really low so I end up liking the movie, Haha. Anyways... Then there's Jamie Foxx. Not much to say other than it's exactly what I expected: Fucking awesome. I love that they didn't use that ridiculous old school green and yellow costume. Even if you didn't like Jamie Foxx, he had to have won some hater over in Django Unchained, he's great, especially as Max Dillon.

At the end, there is a scene between Peter and Gwen that is just unbelievably amazing. And gut wrenching. We've all read the comic. But to see this scene was just awesome. Of course the whole set-up for the Sinister Six is really cool. I was actually thinking about what really happened to Norman Osborn then of course a ton of sites posted the same deleted scene picture without tagging spoilers and we all know now. So there's that. I mean it isn't surprising since, you know, why waste Chris Cooper? I'm sure he'll finally get a decent roll in the next movie or so and we'll then see his bad-assery on display. So yeah. I loved the movie.
