Bob Sapp celebrating his IWGP title win in 2004 |
Thanks to UFC Undisputed 3 sparking my MMA interest a little I started digging up some info on some old fighters I remember. Like The Beast. Of course in the game Bob Sapp is present on the roster. Now... I used to loved pro wrestling, puroresu to be exact. Or I can just say Japanese wrestling. I remember Sapp had some okay matches (usually due to someone other than him carrying the match) and I actually thought he was alright. He wasn't even in the top twenty mind you but, he was definitely entertaining to watch. It was like watching Andre the Giant wrestle. Bob Sapp is huge. I mean fucking HUGE. So whenever he'd wrestle you sort of knew whichever promotion he was wrestling in was going to have him win, especially since the Japanese go wild for this guy. They like big men. Seriously. Meanwhile...before, during and after his wrestling career Sapp was also fighting for different MMA promotions. So anyway he's in the game and I used him and pounded Mark Hunt into oblivion. Then I saw that he actually fought a few days ago:
At 6'5 311lbs this guy should be a monster and not in the obvious literal sense. Or you'd think he was an immovable mountain with a title. As you can see in the video he taps out to those weak strikes by this skinny little punk. Then I researched a few die-hard MMA sites and they all said the same thing: Sapp still at it. I didn't understand so I continued to read and I laughed. Apparently Bob Sapp just milks and whores out his name. As soon as the going gets rough, Sapp quits. One time he even cried. These sites absolutely rip him! It's pretty funny since they compare punching him to crushing an empty soda can. Sad part is they're probably right. Then again you can sort of see it. He couldn't make it in the UFC because I think their max weight is like 250 or 260 I don't know, like I said I'm behind the loop in the world of MMA. I wondered why he never just stuck to wrestling... because in Japan he's in demand. Big time! He sells tickets. One site says his movie cameos last longer than his MMA fights! Anyways... he seems to be in the fetal position more often than not.
